A man critically injured in an auto-pedestrian crash that happened at 1300 Lorraine at about 12:30 a.m. on March 26, has died.
Richard Gutierrez, 60, a pedestrian, was pronounced deceased at Ben Taub General Hospital on Monday.
The driver, Gabriela Garza, was arrested at the scene of the crash on March 26 and was charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #3. A photo of Garza is attached to this news release.
According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer L. Vieira, Garza was driving a silver Chevrolet C1500 pickup truck eastbound on Lorraine when she struck a light pole and also Gutierrez, who was standing in the area. Garza was found to be intoxicated at the scene and subsequently arrested and charged.
The investigation is continuing.
