Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 4011 Galveston Road at approximately 9:10 a.m. today.
The suspect, Xavier Alejandro Martinez, is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. He is accused in the death of Josselin Yamileth, 32, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martinez sustained an apparent self-inflicted laceration to his throat and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition.

A booking photo of suspect Martinez is not available for release at this time, as he remains hospitalized.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Burton and Detective K. Fregia, HPD patrol officers responded to a welfare check call at the above address after one of Martinez’s relatives received text messages leading to believe he might harm himself. The relative arrived at the apartment and heard children crying inside. The relative forced entry into the apartment and found Martinez and Ms. Yamileth on the floor. Yamileth was pronounced deceased from multiple stab wounds. Martinez was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
