Investigators are searching for a 29-year-old Kingwood man who authorities say is armed with stolen assault weapons and threatening to shoot police to avoid returning to prison.
Scott Carson was last seen Monday in his white Ford Ranger fleeing on hike and bike trails on Kingwood’s greenbelts. He faces charges of evading arrest as well as burglary in connection with the armed invasion of a home in Kingwood’s Hunters Ridge village, and remains a suspect in several other burglaries, said Houston police investigator Jim Adkins.
According to court records, Carson was sentenced to five years in prison for aggravated robbery and using a deadly weapon in 2002. He has also done short stints for criminal trespass, possession of marijuana and car burglary between 1998 and 2007.
The recent crime spree began about 1 a.m. Nov. 9 when an intruder broke into a house at 3707 Creek Falls Drive.
    The intruder entered bedroom window.
After receiving a tip, investigators saw Carson leaving a home in Kingwood’s Woodland Hills village about 8 p.m. Squad cars pursued Carson’s white truck, but he refused to pull over. Eventually, officers lost him after he drove his truck onto the greenbelt near Park Garden and traveled down it for about 3 miles.
“We didn’t want to follow him there and risk damaging our cars or hurting a pedestrian in the dark,” he said.
