Suspected public child molester arrested, police seek more victims
Houston police investigators have arrested a suspect who inappropriately grabbed a young girl and are asking for the public’s help in identifying other possible victims.
The suspect, Eric James Munoz, 34, is charged with indecency with a child in the 263rd State District Court.
“The suspect was at a Walmart at 2391 South Wayside on Aug. 6 when he approached a female child, grabbed her buttocks and then fled the store,” HPD Special Victims Division Officer M. Martinez reported. “Shortly after that incident, on the same day, the suspect entered the Sellers Bros. Grocery at 601 North Cesar Chavez Blvd. and followed an adult female and 7-year-old girl to the restroom. When the adult female entered the restroom, the child remained outside. The suspect approached the child, touched her inappropriately, and held her for a few seconds until she pushed him away and reported the incident to the adult female.”
Further investigation led to the identification of Eric Munoz as the suspect in the incidents. He was arrested on Wednesday without incident.
Investigators believe Munoz has likely grabbed other children in the Eastside area of the city and has possibly exposed himself to citizens. They are seeking to identify any additional victims.
Anyone with information on Eric James Munoz’s involvement in other incidents is urged to contact the HPD Special Crimes Division at 713-731-5335.
