HPD investigates Fatal Traffic Accident at 2500 Gulf Freeway

The Houston Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic accident at 2500 Gulf Freeway about 9:30 p.m. on Monday.
The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
“The driver of a white 2006 Jaguar stopped in a moving lane of traffic on the Gulf Freeway, believing he had a flat tire,” HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Rossman and Officer M. Pritchard reported. “The driver of a maroon Mini Cooper, traveling northbound on the Gulf Freeway, braked to avoid striking the Jaguar. The driver of a black 2012 Ford Expedition, also traveling northbound, was unable to stop and struck the rear of the Mini Cooper. The vehicle continued for a short distance before coming to a stop. The driver of the Mini Copper died at the scene.”

The driver of the Expedition, who remained at the scene, was not impaired. He was questioned and released.
