Office Building Fire in The Central Northwest Area

CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source (malfunctioning refrigerator)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the second floor of an office building. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and checked for extension. A primary search was completed with all occupants safely outside. Firefighters monitored the air quality levels while fans were used to ventilate the smoke from the building. A malfunctioning refrigerator in the second-floor office was determined to have caused the fire. Crews from Stations 15, 6, 31, 11, 13, 62, 67 and 30 responded to this incident.
