Investigation into Shooting Incident at 6721 Langdon Lane

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of an armed suspect at 6721 Langdon Lane that occurred about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday (June 22).
The identity of the male suspect is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Lieutenant A. Conejo, Sergeants A. Rossow and K. Johnson and Officers R. Segura and R. Lopez, who discharged their duty weapons, were not inured in this incident.   All are assigned to the South Gessner Patrol Division and were sworn in as officers on December 1997, September 2010, May 1984, August 2017 and December 2014, respectively.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant J. Young and Detectives D. Hammons, M. Childs, C. King and H. Le reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a residence at the above address where a male suspect forced his way into the home and assaulted the elderly residents.  While inside the home, the suspect obtained knives from the kitchen.  A next-door neighbor, armed with a pistol, also entered the resident in an attempt to assist the homeowners.
Officers arrived and found the homeowners and the neighbor in the bedroom struggling with the suspect.  The homeowners told police the suspect had taken possession of the neighbor’s weapon.  Responding officers gave the suspect repeated verbal commands to drop the weapon, but instead, he pointed the weapon in the direction of the officers.  Fearing for their safety and the safety of the persons inside the residence, the officers discharged their duty weapons and the suspect was struck more than one time. Officers then attempted to provide medical assistance to the suspect until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived.  Paramedics pronounced the suspect deceased.
One of the persons in the residence was transported by paramedics to an area hospital with minor injuries and was treated and released.
As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
