UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Death of Female Found at 3500 Cherry Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a female found at 3500 Cherry Street about 11:30 a.m. on April 1.
The suspect, Carmen Celisse White, 38, is charged with capital murder in the 351st State District Court.  A booking photo of White is attached to this news release.
She is accused in the death of her sister, Cynthia Cervantes, 37.
HPD Homicide Division Detective D. Stark reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to an industrial metal work business at the above address regarding a burned body found by a witness.  The witness who found the body notified a railroad employee, who then called police.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences identified the body as Ms. Cervantes.  An autopsy revealed she had been shot multiple times before her body was set on fire.
Further investigation identified White as the suspect in this case.  White was arrested on Monday (June 27) and subsequently charged for her role in the incident.
