Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9700 Beechnut Street about 12:40 a.m. on June 3.
The suspect, Avanta Donnell Bailey, 20, is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. A booking photo of Bailey is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Peter Valentin Moreno-Deschamps, 33.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Nguyen and W. Huff reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and located Mr. Moreno-Deschamps in a grassy area near the parking lot of a strip center. He had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Moreno-Deschamps to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation identified Bailey as a suspect in this case. Bailey was arrested on June 21 and subsequently charged for his role in this incident. A second unidentified suspect remains at large.
