Duplex Fire in The Greater Hobby Area

WHAT: Duplex Fire.
WHEN: August 6, 2022 at 6:11 a.m.
WHERE: 9000 block of Barton St. 77075.
INJURIES: 2 dogs rescued, several dogs found deceased.
PROPERTY SAVED: $145,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $25,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find smoke coming from a 1-story duplex with a resident attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. Crews made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. They found and rescued two dogs; however, several other dogs were found deceased after the fire was extinguished. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. Firefighters from Stations 23, 26, 70, 36, 52, 29, 61 and 24 responded to this incident.
