April 11, 2025 – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has released relevant video footage from an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Feb. 27, 2025.
At 3:09 a.m., deputies were dispatched to an Exxon gas station located at 1303 North Freeway at West Road in response to a 911 call reporting that a man was behaving erratically and destroying the fuel pumps. Two deputies approached the man, later identified as 36-year-old Levincer Swanson, and commanded him to lay on the ground. A physical struggle ensued, and one of the deputies fired two gunshots, striking Swanson, who later died from his wounds.
In accordance with standard procedure, the deputy who fired her weapon has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of investigations by the Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Division, the Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. An autopsy is being conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
