WHAT: 2-alarm apartment fire.
WHEN: April 12, 2025, at 9:07 p.m.
WHERE: 5801 N. Houston Rosslyn, 77092.
INJURIES: Two civilians evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation.

DAMAGE: $400,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (kitchen).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from an apartment building with a report of children trapped. They encountered heavy fire conditions in the unit and conducted a search, finding no victims. All occupants were safely out of the building and accounted for. HFD EMS evaluated two civilians on scene for minor smoke inhalation. Crews made an attack on the fire and, due to the rapid progression of the fire and size of the building and occupants, a second alarm was requested. The fire was controlled and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 12 units were damaged with severe damage to the roof and second floor units. The apartment manager stated they would re-house the displaced families. 106 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 4, 30, 50, 2, 5, 6, 31, 13, 38, 66, 67, 77, 8, 15, 57, 33, Rescue 10, Rescue 84 and Rehab 42.
