Vacant House Fire in The Acres Home Area

WHAT: Vacant house fire.
WHEN: May 2, 2025, at 11:37 a.m.
WHERE: Sandle St. at Ferguson Way, 77088.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $76,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (electrical).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from the garage of a vacant 2-story house and made an offensive attack. Both the front and back entrances were secured by burglar bars. Crews ventilated the roof and conducted a primary search. Conditions worsened and firefighters switched to a defensive attack, controlling the fire from the exterior. They rotated attacking the fire until it was controlled and fully extinguished. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 49 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 67, 15, 4, 31, 5, 11, 13, 58, 4, 30 and Heavy Rescue 11.
