How to export Google Maps Timeline data

Because Google recently transitioned Timeline data from their servers directly to your mobile device, you can no longer use Google Takeout to download this information. Instead, you must export it directly from your Android phone’s system settings.

Here is how one exports Google Timeline data from an Android phone:

1. Open the Settings app on your Android device.

2. Tap on Location.

3. Tap on Location services, and then select Timeline.

4. Under the “Timeline” section, tap Export Timeline data.

5. Tap Continue.

6. Choose your preferred storage location for the file. (Note: The data will export as a JSON file).
