H-Town Spotlight — October 24, 2023
Beyoncé’s 2023 Renaissance World Tour homecoming did more than fill NRG Stadium for two nights. According to Houston First Corporation figures reported by Houston Public Media, the concerts were accompanied by a sizable lift in hotel activity around the Medical Center and NRG area.
The organization reported hotel occupancy of 81.3 percent during the concert run, with approximately $2.5 million in revenue and a 182 percent increase compared with the same weekend in 2022. The average daily rate on the first concert night was reported at $241. Houston First attributed the activity to the two shows and other weekend events.
The report also cited data indicating that more than half of visitors to the area for the concert dates came from outside Houston. That kind of fan travel is part of the wider economic story behind major hometown performances: concerts create excitement inside the venue, but they can also be felt by hotels, restaurants, airports and neighborhoods across the city.
Retrospective note: This summary covers reporting published after the September 2023 Houston concerts. The figures are attributed to Houston First Corporation.
