CAUSE: Undetermined.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a large recycling facility. Several large mounds of recycled plastics, rubber and metal material were on fire. The crews coordinated the extinguishment efforts with the facility’s safety representative and the HFD Hazardous Materials Team (Hazmat). The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were notified, and the fire was controlled with HFD clearing the scene just after 7 a.m.,  April 25, 2024. 54 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 20, 45, 19, 27, 39, 41, 42, 43, 30, Hazmat and Rehab 17.
