Apartment Fire in The Greater Heights Area

WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: March 10, 2025, at 2:56 a.m.
WHERE: 611 W. Cavalcade St. 77009.
INJURIES: One civilian treated on scene.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $80,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the first floor of a 2-story apartment building and made an offensive attack. A primary search was completed, and the utilities were secured. The fire had started in a furnace on the first floor and traveled up to the second floor. Crews extinguished the fire and checked the walls and attic for extension. One resident was treated on scene by HFD EMS. 48 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 15, 6, 31, 9, 12, 30 and Rescue 1.
