Detached Residential Garage Fire in The Alief Area

WHAT: Detached residential garage fire.
WHEN: March 10, 2025, at 4 p.m.
WHERE: 9100 block of Mellow Brook Dr. at S. Dairy Ashford, 77099.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $60,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (discarded smoking material).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find a detached residential garage totally involved in fire and made an offensive attack. They stopped the fire from extending to the house and conducted a primary search. The utilities were secured, and the fire was brought under control. HFD Arson investigators were requested and determined that the cause of the fire was most likely accidental from discarded smoking materials along the fence. 56 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 82, 2, 68, 83, 73, 75, 76, and Hazmat.
