A man was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of unlawful carry of a weapon with a felony conviction following a road rage incident that escalated into a firearm threat.
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Harris County Sheriff’s Office District 3 deputies responded to the 500 block of Normandy Street after a report of an aggravated assault. The incident began with a minor vehicle accident in a gated apartment complex, which led to a verbal altercation. An adult female driver involved in the accident called an adult male, who arrived armed with a pistol. This male, later identified as Mauro Elihu Martinez, born November 18, 1992, threatened to shoot the occupants of the other vehicle involved in the accident by pointing the gun at them.
One of the victims called 911, and Martinez fled on foot to a nearby apartment. Detectives from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Offenders Unit conducted a follow-up investigation, leading to Martinez’s identification and charges.
In coordination with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office VIPER task force, Martinez was apprehended at his residence without incident. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of a handgun, a rifle, and various narcotics, which might result in additional charges pending further investigation.
