Garage Apartment Fire in The Alief Area

CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source.
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a detached garage apartment. They made an offensive attack and ventilated the roof of the garage. The primary search was clear, and the utilities were controlled. Crews extinguished the fire before it spread to the main house, with heavy damage to the apartment and breezeway. It appeared a malfunctioning stove had caused the fire. 49 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 2, 68, 83, 10, 76, 86, 75 and 57.
