Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8700 Wilcrest Drive

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 8700 Wilcrest Drive about 12:30 a.m. today (June 27).
The identities of the two deceased victims are pending identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Best reported:
The driver of a black Honda Accord was traveling northbound at the above address when the driver failed to maintain a single lane and struck a tree in the center median of the roadway. The vehicle then came to a rest in the southbound lanes of Wilcrest and caught fire. A white Honda Accord, traveling southbound on Wilcrest, then struck the black Honda.
The driver and passenger in the black Honda Accord were both pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the driver nor passenger of the white Honda Accord were injured. They remained at the scene, the driver did not show signs of intoxication and were questioned and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
