2-Alarm Building Fire in The Gulfgate Riverview / Pine Valley Area

WHAT: 2-alarm building fire.
WHEN: April 3, 2024, at 1:45 a.m.
WHERE: 2524 Sutherland St. 77023.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $300,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find heavy smoke coming from an abandoned 2-story building. They made an attack on the fire and verified there were no active utilities. A second-alarm was requested. They extinguished the fire and requested HFD Arson investigators to determine the cause and origin. 84 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 40, 17, 23, 8, 20, 25, 26, 35, 11, 6, 7, 18, 15, 24, 33 Heavy Rescue 11, Rescue 42 and Rehab 17.
