Apartment Fire in The Addicks Park Ten Area

WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: January 16, 2024, at 6:32 a.m.
WHERE: 1800 Barker Cypress Rd. 77084.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $1,500,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $160,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (cooking).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the third floor of a three-story apartment building. They made an offensive attack and controlled the utilities. The crews extinguished the fire with heavy fire damage to the apartment of origin and water damage to the units below. The occupant had been cooking and unsuccessfully attempted to put the fire out with an extinguisher. Property management and maintenance were on location and assisted the affected tenants. 53 personnel responded to this incident including firefighters from stations 90, 2, 5, 78, 49, 57, 83, 86, 90, 69, 75 and 57.
