House Fire in The Washington Avenue Coalition / Memorial Park Area

WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: January 16, 2024, at 1:03 p.m.
WHERE: 1600 block of Knox St. 77007.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $430,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $30,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (Heat source too close to combustibles).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke coming from a 1-story house. They forced entry and controlled the fire that originated around an exhaust pipe of a wood burning stove. The crews ventilated the house and removed some of the brick and wall to fully extinguish the fire. 31 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 6, 8, 11, 38, 62 and 30.
