Investigation into Fatal Crash at 16924 Eastex Freeway

ouston police are investigating a fatal crash at 16924 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 3:40 p.m. on Saturday (April 26).
The identity of the deceased female, 67, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant V. Vo and Officer T. Pham reported:
A red Nissan Rogue was merging onto the main lanes of the freeway from the service road when it struck a silver Acura TLX traveling northbound on the freeway. Both drivers lost control and crashed into a ditch.
Paramedics transported both drivers to an area hospital where doctors pronounced the female driver of the Nissan deceased.
The driver of the Acura suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
