Investigation into Fatal Crash at 801 North Loop West

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 801 North Loop West (State Interstate Highway 610 North) about 1:35 a.m. on Sunday (May 18).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer C. Moralez reported:
The driver of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on the North Loop when he struck a pedestrian standing in the main lanes of the freeway.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.
The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
