Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 10500 Bauman Road
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 10500 Bauman Road about 11:20 p.m. on Saturday (June 14).
The suspect, Jose Manuel Villegas Umanzor, 20, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 248th State District Court. A booking photo of Villegas Umanzor is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 66, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer T. Hudson reported:
A gray Infiniti G37 and green Chevrolet Lumina were both traveling northbound on Bauman Road. The Infinity was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck the Chevrolet from behind.
The impact then pushed the Chevrolet into a ditch on the side of the roadway. The Infiniti then crashed into a parked vehicle. Paramedics transported the driver of the Chevrolet to an area hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.
The driver of the Infiniti, identified as Villegas Umanzor, and a male passenger, 65, were transported to an area hospital in stable condition. Villegas Umanzor was determined to be impaired and was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in this incident.
