Investigation into Female’s Death at 773 Pickering Street

Houston police are waiting for autopsy results in the death of a female found at 773 Pickering Street about 4 p.m. on Thursday (June 26).
The identity of the deceased female, 94, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives H. Martinez and S. Chettry reported:
Houston Fire Department firefighters, while enroute to an unrelated incident, observed heavy smoke coming from a residence at the above address. When they arrived on scene they found the front door open and made entry to the residence. The elderly female was found inside a closet and had suffered severe burns. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
HFD personnel then called HPD to investigate the death of the female. At this time there does not appear to be any signs of foul play.
The investigation is pending the female’s cause of death, to be determined by an autopsy.
