Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4200 East Freeway

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 4200 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 3:15 a.m. today (July 17).
The identity of the deceased male, 65, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer C. Ballard reported:
The driver of the gray Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on the East Freeway in a construction zone. Two lanes of traffic were closed for construction and traffic was heavy. The driver of the Chevrolet failed to control his speed and struck a white Volvo 18-wheeler cab. The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
The driver of the 18-wheeler remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
