UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5300 Antoine Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man in the 5300 block of Antoine Drive about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday (July 15).
The suspect, Asia C. Law, 19, is charged murder in the murder in the 248th State District Court. A booking photo of Law is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Kennedy Asante, 28.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Olive and Detective T. Tyler reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to the above address and found a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported the male, later identified as Mr. Asante,  to an area hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.
Investigators learned the male entered a bus at the above address, but the bus driver refused to give him a ride due to a previous disturbance.  A black female who was on the bus, exited the vehicle but waited outside of the entrance door.
After the bus driver refused to give the male a ride, the male assaulted the bus driver and fled the bus. As he was running out and away from the bus, the black female removed a pistol from her waistband and fired multiple shots, striking the male. She then fled the scene on foot.
Further investigation identified Law as the suspect in this incident. Officers arrested her on Thursday (July 17) and she was subsequently charged and booked into the Harris County Jail.
