Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 12000 South Sam Houston Parkway West
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash that occurred at 12000 South Sam Houston Parkway West (Beltway 8) service road about 3 a.m. on Saturday (July 26).
The suspect, James Tzu-Chi Yen, 30, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the182nd State District Court. A booking photo of Yen is attached to the news release.
The identity of the deceased female is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer R. Guzman reported:
The driver of a Ford Focus was stopped at a red light at the above address. The driver of a black Volkswagen ID4 failed to control speed and struck the Ford from behind. As a result of the impact, the Ford Focus struck a traffic light pole and the vehicle caught fire.
Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the female driver of the Ford deceased at the scene
The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as Yen, was determined to be impaired and was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in this incident.
