Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 7613 Boone Road
Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 7613 Boone Road about 4:35 p.m. on Tuesday (August 12).
The suspect, Colby Tyler, 25, is charged with capital murder, evading arrest and tampering with evidence in the 177th State District Court. A booking photo of Tyler is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 65, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Meister and H. Montealegre reported:
Officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation determined two suspects exited a vehicle and robbed and shot the victim. The suspects, described only as black males, then got back into the vehicle, driven by a third person, and fled.
HPD Westside Patrol Crime Suppression Team officers located the suspect vehicle nearby and as they were investigating one suspect got into the vehicle. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the driver refused and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect then crashed the vehicle near the intersection of the 610 South Loop and Scott Street.
The suspect, identified as Colby Tyler, attempted to flee on foot however he was quickly detained. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Tyler was then charged with his role in the shooting as well as his attempt to flee from officers.
