Houston Police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a juvenile male at 12646 Ashford Meadow Drive about 3:15 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 10).
Cameron Clark Jackson, 27, is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court. A booking photo of Jackson is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Za’Wight Johnson, 13.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Lamont and Detective A. Herrera reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a residence at the above address and learned that the juvenile male had suffered a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.
Officers found evidence of a shooting in the parking lot and learned the juvenile was in the living room of the residence when he was shot.
Further investigation identified the suspect as Jackson and on Thursday (August 14) he was arrested by the HPD Westside Patrol Divisional Gang Unit and charged for the murder by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. He was then booked into the Harris County Jail without incident.
