UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4020 Synott Road
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4020 Synott Road about 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 19).
The suspect, Demarcus Johnson, 34, is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. A booking photo of Johnson is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as William Brantley, 32.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Chettry and H. Martinez reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Paramedics transported him to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. He was lated identified as Mr. Brantley.
Officers learned Brantley was involved in a physical altercation with an unknown male. The suspect shot him and fled the scene.
Further investigation identified Johnson as the suspect. He was in custody in the Harris County Jail on unrelated charges and was subsequently charged in this case on Thursday (Aug. 21).
