Investigation into Fatal Crash at 100 North Sam Houston Parkway East

Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred in the 100 block of North Sam Houston Parkway East (Beltway 8) service road about about 12:40 a.m. today (September 22).
The identity of the deceased female, 53, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Barrow and Officer T. Hudson reported:
A white Cadillac CT5 was traveling eastbound at the above address when the vehicle struck a female pedestrian at the intersection of North Sam Houston Parkway and Greenspoint Drive on the service road. Paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
According to the witnesses, the pedestrian is a wheelchair-bound female who is known to frequent the area.
The male driver, 22, of the Cadillac returned to the scene on foot and told officers he parked the vehicle a short distance away from the scene. He was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
