UPDATE: One Suspect Arrested, Another Sought in July Fatal Shooting at 4603 Sherwood Lane

Charges have been filed against one suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a male at 4603 Sherwood Lane about 10:50 p.m. on July 5.
The suspect, Octavio Garcia Cruz, 48, is charged with murder in the 184th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Cruz is attached to this news release.
A second unidentified suspect, described only as a Hispanic male, remains at large. He is the suspect seen wearing a Barcelona t-shirt in a previous released video that’s also attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Angel Chavira, 35.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective R. Lujan reported:
HPD officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim had been transported to the hospital via a private vehicle.  He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Further investigation revealed the male was sitting outside his apartment with friends when he was approached by two Hispanic male suspects.  One of the suspects shot the victim multiple times and both suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
On August 27, investigators released a video showing the two suspects approaching Mr. Chavira’s apartment before the shooting.
One suspect was later identified as Cruz. On Wednesday (October 8), officers with HPD’s Gang Division’s Crime Reduction Unit and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force arrested Cruz. He was subsequently charged and booked into the Harris County jail.
