Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 2100 Katy Freeway
Charges have been filed against a suspect in a fatal crash at 2100 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 1:15 a.m. on October 17.
The suspect, Ariel Perry Stewart, 21, is charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle in the 337th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Stewart is attached to this news release.
The identities of the deceased male and female are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer T. Smith reported:
A gray Tesla Model Y and silver Nissan Sentra were traveling eastbound at the above address. The driver of the Tesla failed to control speed and struck the Nissan, causing the Nissan to spin out, strike a barrier and catch fire. Paramedics pronounced the male driver and female passenger in the Nissan deceased at the scene.
The female passenger, 23, of the Tesla was transported to an area hospital.
The driver of the Tesla, Stewart, showed signs of intoxication. The Harris County’s District Office was consulted and she was subsequently charged and taken to the Harris County Jail.
