UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 3534 Russell Street

A suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 3534 Russell Street about 2:20 a.m. on October 25 has been arrested.
The suspect, Jose Guadalupe Amaya Martinez, 47, is charged with murder in the 497th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Martinez, who is in the custody of the Lake County Sheriff’s Detention Center in Gary, Indiana, is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Ramon Martinez Linares, 55.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a residence at the above address and located a male with a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Officers learned the victim was involved in an altercation with another male. During the altercation, the suspect shot the victim and fled the scene.
Further investigation identified the suspect as Amaya Martinez. On Saturday (Nov. 1), members of the Indiana FBI Gang Response Investigative Team arrested Martinez.
