Investigation into Fatal Crash at 700 Eastex Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in the 700 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 6:50 a.m on Thursday (January 1).
The identity of the deceased female, 23, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer L. Ho reported:
The freeway was partially closed near the above address due to a previous crash. While the freeway was partially blocked, a white Honda Accord struck a gray Nissan Kicks from behind. The driver of the Nissan exited her vehicle, and was standing on the side of the freeway when a maroon Ford F150, traveling northbound, struck the rear of the Honda.  The Honda then struck the retaining wall and the female pedestrian. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
The driver and passenger in the Honda and a passenger in the Ford were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
