Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 1000 Travis Street

Houston police have arrested a male charged in the fatal crash that occurred at 1000 Travis Street about 12:45 a.m. on Saturday (January 17).
The suspect, Johnathan Ordonez, 30, is charged with murder in the 228th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Ordonez, who remains hospitalized, is not available.
The victim is identified as David Nken Njock, 37.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer A. Mares reported:
The driver of a white Ford Edge was traveling northbound from the 2700 block of Travis where he had taken the vehicle in a robbery. The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of a white Kia Soul and then hit a maroon Toyota Tundra on the side. The impact of the crash caused the Kia to flip on its roof.
Responding Houston Fire Department pronounced the victim, Mr. Nken Njock, deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford was identified as Ordonez and after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office he was charged with murder.
