Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 1700 Southwest Freeway about 6:25 a.m. at 1700 Southwest Freeway (South Interstate Highway 59) on Tuesday, January 27.
The identity of the deceased male, 45, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Officer C. Moralez reported:
The driver of a gray Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on the Southwest Freeway when he struck a pedestrian, attempting to cross the freeway. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male to an area hospital where, on Jan. 30, he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Ford remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
