3rd UPDATE: Fifth Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2025 Fatal Shooting at 8301 Willow Place Drive
A fifth suspect has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of one male at 8301 Willow Place Drive about 2:10 p.m. on March 1, 2025.
The suspect, Aniyah Sonya Martinez, 20, is charged with capital murder in the 176th Criminal District Court.
Three other suspects, J’lon Dakarai Griffin, 19, Andres Garcia, 20, and Joshua Richards, 17, are charged with capital murder in the 185th and 176th Criminal District Courts respectively. Booking photos of the suspects are attached to this news release.
A additional male suspect, 16, was referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a charge of capital murder. Names and booking photos of juvenile suspects are not releasable.
The deceased victim is identified as Miguel “Mickey” Gonzalez Jr., 18.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found an unresponsive male lying in the courtyard with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
A preliminary investigation determined two additional males with gunshot wounds were transported by private vehicle to an area hospital in stable conditions. One was later identified as Garcia.
Further investigation determined Mr. Gonzalez was lured to the above address with the belief he was purchasing items from the suspects. Upon arrival at the apartment complex he was robbed at gunpoint by the suspects.
Additional investigation identified the suspects as Garcia, Richards and the juvenile male. All three suspects were arrested on March 28 and subsequently charged for their role in the shooting.
Further investigation identified Griffin as a suspect in this case and on Tuesday (June 3) he was arrested and charged for his role in the fatal shooting.
On January 31, Aniyah Martinez was identified as a fifth suspect in this case. She was subsequently charged for her role in this incident and booked into the Harris County jail.
