A sixth suspect wanted in the the fatal shooting of two men at 7132 Avenue Q about 3:10 a.m. on January 21, 2022 has been arrested.
The suspect, Elizabeth Rodriguez, 21, is charged with capital murder in the 177th Criminal District Court.
Along with Rodriguez, five other suspects are charged with capital murder in the 177th Criminal District Court and in custody. They are: Victorya Ruby Venegas, 22, Jozalyn Lawrence, 24, Jacob Lee St John, 24, Raul Gallegos, 23, and Damien Vega, 22. Venegas is in federal custody and a booking photo is not available for her. The booking photos for the five remaining suspects are attached to this news release.
The victims are identified as Juan Ramirez, 41, and Apolonio Alvarado, 37.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Watson and M. Burrow and Detective D. Stark reported:
Officers responded to a report of a home invasion at the above address and found two males had been shot and a third male assaulted. All three males were transported to an area hospital where one victim, Mr. Alvarado, was pronounced deceased.
The second shooting victim, Mr. Ramirez, was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He died from his injuries on June 1, 2023.
A third male was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses stated multiple masked males entered the front door of the residence and began shooting and assaulting the victims. The suspects then fled on foot.
Further investigation identified the suspects as St John, Gallegos and Vega. Gallegos and Vega are in the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on unrelated charges.
On December 9, 2025, officers with HPD’s Southeast Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team arrested St John and he was subsequently charged for his role in this incident.
On March 10, officers arrested Lawrence and she was subsequently charged for her role in this incident.
Investigators also identified Victorya Ruby Venegas and Elizabeth Rodriguez as suspects in this incident. Venegas is in federal custody on unrelated charges and will be extradited to Harris County.
Following an update earlier in March when Rodriguez was charged and listed as a wanted suspect, a tip led to her whereabouts. On Wednesday (March 25), Rodriguez was arrested without incident in a coordinated effort between HPD, the Laredo Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.
Rodriguez is awaiting extradition to Harris County.
