Investigation into Fatal Crash at 800 Sunnyside Street

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 800 Sunnyside Street about 7:30 a.m. today (Feb. 6).
The identity of the deceased male, 68, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer L. Ho reported:
The driver of a black Honda Accord, 20, was traveling eastbound on Sunnyside when the driver failed to maintain a single lane and struck a pedestrian (deceased) and then a fence. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation determined the pedestrian was walking on the side of the the roadway due to a lack of sidewalks. The driver did not show signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
