Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1500 South Voss Road

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 1500 South Voss Road about 2:25 a.m. today (February 24).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia reported:
HPD Midwest Patrol officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on a black Infinity QX50 with a stolen license plate in the 3000 block of Unity Street. The driver failed to stop and fled from officers, initiating a pursuit.
The suspect lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of South Voss Road and San Felipe Street and crashed into a tree. The vehicle then caught on fire. Paramedics pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
