Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 1640 West Alabama Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 1640 West Alabama Street about 3:05 a.m. on Saturday (March 8).
The suspect, Sandra Marie Rios, 52, is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court.  A booking photo of Rios is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Sammy Marks, 70.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Perez and M. Castillo reported:
Officers were dispatched to a stabbing call at the residence at the above address and located a male lying on the floor inside the home.  He had suffered stab wounds. Paramedics transported the man, later identified as Mr. Marks, to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  Officers were told a known female suspect, in a relationship with Marks, left the scene on foot.
Officers located and detained the suspect, identified as Rios, about a block away from the scene.
During the investigation, it was learned Marks and Rios got into an argument inside the home.  At some point during the argument, Rios retrieved a knife and stabbed Marks.
The facts of the case were presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.  Rios was transported to the Harris County Jail and charged for her role in the incident.
