Investigation into Fatal Crash at 700 West Loop North

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 700 West Loop North (West Interstate Highway 610 North) about 3:30 a.m. today (April 15).
The identity of the deceased female is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer M. Lozano reported:
The female was driving a white Chevrolet Suburban at a high rate of speed southbound on the entrance ramp from the West Loop North to East/West Interstate Highway 10 and sideswiped a gray GMC Sierra pickup truck.  The driver of the Suburban lost control of the vehicle and struck the concrete barrier on the shoulder.  The impact caused the Suburban to fall on its side and slide a considerable distance.  The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle.  The driver of the GMC stopped and remained at the scene.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the driver of the Suburban deceased.  The driver of the GMC, who was not injured, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
