Houston Fire Department Honor Guard to Welcome New Members with First Ever HFD Honor Guard Graduation

WHAT: Honor Guard to welcome seven new members during special graduation ceremony with remarks by Mayor John Whitmire and Fire Chief Thomas Muñoz.
WHEN: Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Legacy Room at City Hall, 901 Bagby St. 77002.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: For the first time in HFD history, members will be welcomed into the HFD Honor Guard at a graduation ceremony. These seven members have spent weeks/months training with the Honor Guard and attend / detail at least five funerals before being offered the position. There are 19 members of the Honor Guard who volunteer their services outside their regular work shifts, supporting an average of 80 to 90 funerals a year as well as other activities such as parades, Mayor’s details, and other special events.
