Investigation into Fatal Crash at 9200 Eastex Freeway

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 9200 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 12:10 a.m. today (July 3).
The identity of the deceased male, 35, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer T. Smith reported:
The driver of a blue Volkswagen Tiguan was traveling northbound on the Eastex freeway when the driver struck a pedestrian (victim) attempting to cross the main lanes of the freeway. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Volkswagen remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
