Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10000 Katy Freeway

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 10000 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 11:50 p.m. Sunday (July 6).
The identity of the deceased male is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer T. Johnson reported:
The driver of a gray Lexus IS 250, traveling westbound near the above address, failed to control speed and struck a pole in the intersection. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
No other persons or vehicles were involved in this crash.
The investigation is continuing.
